Edna is located at 28°58'36" North, 96°38'48" West (28.976550,
-96.646568). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a
total area of 10.1 km˛ (3.9 mi˛). 10.1 km˛ (3.9 mi˛) of it is land and
none of the area is covered with water.
As of the census of 2000, there are 5,899
people, 2,227 households, and 1,523 families residing in the city. The

units at an average density of 258.3/km˛ (668.7/mi˛). The racial makeup of
the city is 64.82% White, 13.65% African American, 0.49% Native American,
0.76% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 17.48% from other races, and 2.80%

household size is 2.60 and the average family size is 3.20.
In the city the population is spread out with 29.2% under the age of 18,
8.5% from 18 to 24, 26.0% from 25 to 44, 20.9% from 45 to 64, and 15.4%
who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 35 years. For every
100 females there are 91.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over,
there are 87.1 males.
